You've joined Cub Scouts, now what?
You're probably excited to get started! We know it can be overwhelming at first so we've put together a list of the BEST ways to get started Scouting with Pack 895:
(1: Purchase your Uniforms: Class A uniform, Class B T-shirt, and handbook. (available @ the Scout Shop) (What's Class A / B?)
2: Sign on to scoutbook.com (see video below) 3, Check your email for a message from your new Den Leader. (check your spam if you don't see one). Be patient we're all volunteers who have full time jobs too. 4. Start going to Scout Meetings (Den meetings - 2nd & 4th weeks / Pack meeting - 3rd Monday.) (where do we meet?) 5.: Add Pack 895's monthly special events to your family calendar and make plans to attend. (See Pack Calendar) 6: Attend Akela Meetings (first Monday of each month). YOU are Akela and everyone is welcome! (more info on our Facebook Group.) 7:. Spend time with your scout learning and earning badges. 8: Support your Den Leader as a resource person or substitute as needed. 9: Complete your Youth Protection Training (YPT). Recommended for every adult over 18 years of age. (Valid for 2 years.) What's YPT? 10: Complete BSA required insurance forms and submit a paper copy to our Membership Chair. (these are required for Pack camping trips, Pack overnighters, Day Camp, etc.) 11: Consider joining the Pack Committee. Cub Scouts Packs are powered by volunteers and our leadership roles are fluid, in that individuals roll on and off of our 895 Pack Committee as their scout grows and moves on. We are always looking to "train our replacements." 12: Stay informed: join our Facebook group, and text @pack895 to #81010. |
