In an effort to be fully transparent with pack members, below is a summary of Pack 895’s financials for the 2020-2021 year (September-May) and for June 2021. You’ll notice that we had a net loss of about $1,300 for the year. The majority of that amount, $950, is for the fall 2021 campout deposit. The related revenue will be collected in the fall once we get closer to the campout date. The rest of the net expense represents the purchase of pack t-shirts that we still have on hand. You may also be wondering about the large balance that we have sitting in the bank. Years ago the pack had a trailer that was sold. The funds we received from that sale have been left untouched so that we could buy another trailer or make other large purchases if needed. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to let me know. I’m always happy to talk numbers! Nicki Prettol Pack 895, Treasurer Greetings from your Cub Master! Last month I shared my desire for our pack to provide a fun and meaningful way to achieve the aims of scouting and reinforce the values identified in the Scout Law. As parents we have an opportunity to demonstrate these values in practice and teach them to our scouts as we participate in the many fun activities together. The first point of the scout law is Trustworthy. Another way of describing being worthy of trust is being completely reliable. Our families and friends as well as those we do not know well must be able to depend on us to honor our commitments, always be truthful, and consistently live out the other points of the Scout Law to be loyal and helpful and... more on those next month! Thank you again for the investment you are making in your child’s development through scouting, and thank you for choosing Pack 895! Greetings from your Cub Master! I write this note as a short summary of my vision for our scouting program in Pack 895. My desire for our pack is to provide a fun and meaningful way to achieve the four aims of scouting: character, citizenship, personal fitness, and leadership. This purposeful approach guides the planning of our pack activities and reinforces the values identified in the Scout Oath and Scout Law. I want all of our activities to be fun and each of our experiences to be memorable, but most importantly I want our scouts to learn to apply the scouting values in their everyday lives. Over each of the coming months I will focus this Cub Master’s Corner specifically on one of the points of the Scout Law and what each of us can do to demonstrate that value in our daily lives. Thank you for the investment you are making in your child’s development through scouting, and thank you for choosing Pack 895! Regards, Bryan McCarty Pack 895, Cubmaster DID YOU KNOW? (By Jessica McCarty, Pack 895, Committee Chair) This is the first Edition of Jessica's "Did You Know" featured in our first Scout Me Informed Newsletter. Sign up NOW to be included in our next Scout Me Informed. Cub Scouting is for Families. So many fun things are on the way for your scout and your entire family! One of my favorite things about Cub Scouting is that it is for the WHOLE family, which is great since I have four kiddos to join in the fun. Cub Scouts takes the whole family, creating adventures and experiences for them to bond and grow together. This is such a short time we get with our kiddos, so our desire in planning pack events is to both help each scout learn & grow and to create lasting memories for your entire family! Before you know it they will be going on to Boy Scouts, and that program will be much more scout led. Our events are intended to teach skills & principles to prepare them for independence while also enabling you to join in the fun. Be sure to put our entire new scout year of events into your calendar so you won’t miss out on a single adventure! Jessica McCarty Pack 895, Committee Chair |
