Greetings from your Cubmaster! One thing you may not know about me is that I love all kinds of music, and Christmas carols are one of the things I look forward to the most this time of year. It both amuses and saddens me to consider how many of the familiar carols we know by heart while giving little or no thought to the meaning of the words we sing. This morning I heard Joy to World on the way to work, and I'm struck by the last couple lines of the fourth verse: And wonders of His love, And wonders of His love, And wonders, wonders, of His love. The story of God's love for us is truly amazing - sending His son Jesus to earth, born to die as a savior for a people that despise him. Oh what a wondrous love is this! Let me challenge you this Christmas season to think about the meaning of these old familiar carols as you listen to them in the coming weeks. I hope you will join Pack 895 on Dec 13th as we have the opportunity to sing with some friends at a local Sr. Center. May you cherish time with your friends and family this holiday season and take some time to stop and enjoy the music!
Regards, Bryan McCarty Cub Master, Pack 895 |
