For those that are new to Pack 895 and/or Cub Scouts, our biggest fundraiser of the year is selling popcorn. Our council gives us the opportunity to sell through Trails End to help scouts pay their way through scouting. Scouts earn a 30% commission on popcorn sold which can be used to cover pack dues, campout fees and overnighters Participation is optional but encouraged to help scouts learn responsibility, managing finances, etc. Scouts can earn prizes for selling as well. You can participate in Popcorn sales in a variety of ways, all detailed below: 1. Online - Create an account at https://www.trails-end.com/registration. Share your selling link with family and friends and you’re all set. This option is available now through 12/31/22. 2. Take Order Sales - Scouts sell door to door or to family and friends with an order form. Customers write down their order and pay up front, then popcorn is ordered for them and delivered by the scout in late November. I will have more order forms at the September pack meeting or you can contact me to get one sooner if you like. 3. Wagon Sales - Scouts go door to door with popcorn products in hand to sell right then. A scout’s inventory must be requested beforehand (see Google doc link below) and families are responsible for the cost of any inventory not sold. We will be doing one more order of popcorn for wagon sales in September. If the Google Doc is not filled out we will not order inventory for you. Products ordered for wagon sales will be distributed at the September pack meeting. https://forms.gle/TcKoqWvVdSBCMCsy5 The deadline to request popcorn for wagon sales is Friday, September 9th at 12pm. Scouts can participate in any combination of the above methods of sales. A wagon sale becomes a take order sale when you run out of the specific product a customer wants. Take orders will only be accepted on a properly filled out form. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to reach out to me. We look forward to a successful 2022 popcorn sale! Stephanie Palazzo Pack 895 Fundraising Chair NOTE: 1) Blazin' Hot Popcorn only available for wagon sales. It is not available for take order. 2) Chocolate pretzels are only available as take order & is delivered in November. 3) Online ordering does offer some additional product options that wagon sales and take order do not, such as beef jerky and nuts, but you do have to pay shipping.

The final three points of the Scout Law are Brave, Clean, and Reverent. Let’s start with the last point and a thought from Scouting’s founder, Robert Baden-Powell. When asked where religion came into Scouting, Baden-Powell replied, “It does not come in at all. It is already there. It is a fundamental factor underlying Scouting and Guiding.” Earlier he explained “Religion seems a very simple thing. First, love and serve God. Second, love and serve your neighbor.” There are many ways that we can practice reverence in scouting, and while you may not profess to be a Christian, I think we can all agree that the fundamental principle of loving your neighbor as yourself, thinking of others first, when demonstrated in action produces tremendous value. In fact, the other points of the Scout Law…trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, & clean…are all rooted in this one principle of putting others before yourself. As leaders, volunteers, and parents let’s all strive to live out the points of the Scout Law and be examples for our kids, our families, our friends, and our coworkers. Thank you for joining on this scouting journey with Pack 895 this year! I look forward to many more fantastic adventures together.

Greetings from your Cubmaster! Our next point in the Scout Law is a scout is thrifty. The definition of thrifty is using resources carefully and not wastefully, and I think one of our most precious resources is time. We only have a limited amount of time with our kids, and you can't get time back once it's gone. I encourage you to use your time wisely to make the most of these precious years in your family. Scouting is a great way to spend your time with fun and meaningful experiences together. Thank you for spending your time with Pack 895!
Regards, Bryan McCarty Cub Master, Pack 895 After seeing our Webelo 2’s crossover to the Troop it really reminded me our role as parents in the Pack.
My oldest became a Boy Scout and he went from needing me a ton to “I’m a man” mom and out on his own. During the Cub Scout years our kids need us. They need us to show them the way, set examples and have fun with them. The experiences they have with us during these (short) five years help set them up for independence, responsibility and grow confidence. While they are little now, it seems scary for us to let them go but with Cub Scouts we have a natural and slow progression (and sometimes it feels realllllly slow). This is good for all of us! When you walk with them through scouts you are doing more than you think. It’s why we say this is “Family Scouting” because you are actively participating and showing your child that the Cub Scout Values are values you endorse and know that your scout can grow into. Our Den leaders are epic but no one inspires your kiddo more than You! This is the most influential time in your child’s life and scouting is a great way to help you maximize it. Keep being awesome parents because you are doing Great! With Much Love! Jessica McCarty Pack 895, Committee Chair The Spring campout is fast approaching, and we need your help! We are excited to provide breakfast and dinner together for the pack, and many hands will make light work. There are many opportunities for you to get involved (even if you're not going camping). Some facts about Pack 895's 2022 Scouting for Food Project:
Greetings from your Cub Master! Last year we started going through the points of the Scout Law together, but we only made it through the first five. The next two points of the Scout Law are a scout is Obedient and Cheerful. Now you may think these are two completely separate concepts, but I think true obedience comes from a cheerful heart. The essence of obedience is respect. Even as adults we can demonstrate the essence of obedience by honoring the ideas of others and showing others we value them by taking the time to listen. Another way we can demonstrate the essence of obedience in our technology driven culture is to simply put down our phones and be present. I value the limited time I get to spend with each and every one of you in Pack 895. Let's make the most of our time together!
